Before joining the Bar, Ben gained extensive experience as a multi-disciplinary professional in prestigious international financial institutions and regulatory authorities. He held senior roles for over 20 years, including as an associate director of the Securities and Futures Commission, a head of regulatory legal and compliance, a business development and management executive of international investment banks, showcasing a broad spectrum of expertise in legal, compliance and financial transactions.
Ben played a pivotal role in managing diverse regulatory inquiries, investigations, litigations, and cross-border issues. His work involved comprehensive engagement with the Securities and Futures Ordinance (and its subsidiary legislation), the Banking Ordinance, and relevant local codes, rules, and regulations. He also dealt with similar frameworks in mainland China and other jurisdictions.
Ben joined Chambers after completing his pupillage with Mr. Cheng Huan QC SC and Mr. Edward Tang. Leveraging his previous experience and multiple qualifications, Ben is developing a broad practice with a focus on regulatory matters, financial crime, corruption, money laundering, anti-competition and debt recovery.
